Checking your own papers via Turnitin

Checking your own papers via Turnitin

The following serves as a guide for situations where a lecturer desires to generate a similarity report and personally test a paper for plagiarism.

This can be done through Moodle itself via the following steps:

  1. Create an Assignment with Turnitin enabled in one of your Moodle courses and hide it from students.

Below is a screenshot of recommended settings for the assignment.

Most importantly you should ensure that ‘Store Student Papers’ is set to No Repository and ‘Report Generation Speed’ is set to Generate immediately and can resubmit after due date.

2. Ensure that you hide the created Assignment from students.
This can be done during creation in ‘Common Module Settings’

Or after creation, from the course page.

3. Navigate to the created test assignment on your course page and submit the document you want to check.

4. You can proceed to delete the assignment once you have received the Similarity Report and are satisfied.
